Sunrise

the raw cold morning scent, of untainted fresh air… that's what i'm experiencing now. the SURGE photoshoot is tonight, and i can't sleep… its not that i'm worried, yesterday's test shoot was fantastic, achieving all that i imagined and slightly more – now the question is do we stick to the tried and tested and stop here tonight for the real shoot, or do we dare to break the boundaries to experiment even further? i guess i will opt for the safer shoot, there's too much at stake now…. i rather achieve what's attainable – and that's where invention and creativity dies most of the time – in the incubation womb – in our imaginations.

laid in bed from 1 am till 5 am, untill i decided there was no point feigning sleep anymore – and woke up to surf the web. Currently going through all the Live 8 concert videos on AOL… got the link from a friend – mainly out of curiosity for the much hyped Madonna 3 song set. Yes, she was immaculate – but who would have expected anything less from her? Trying to dissect how she orchestrated the whole set – to create one which garnered raving reviews from all the British tabloids. And observing her (and other performer's) performance charisma etc.

She manage to steer the crowd – with very little words – her set was very tight, concise and her whole group of performers, despite their diversity, to be a strong and power packed team. the gospel choir was very charismatic – even though they had little air time, you could see all of them were out there to give it their all – to perform their hearts out. I felt the all white ensemble – which stretched to all her performers, backup vocalists and musicians came across as smart and clean….. a powerful statement…. she was very determined from the onset how she wanted the set to evolved – building it up to a climax and was very determined to achieve it. The breakdancers were mesmerizing – clean and sharp moves – and the fact that Madonna actually took effort to pull off a little bit of coordinated dancing with them made her even more credible as a performer….

here's the link to the Live 8 concert videos – Live 8 have to install an AOL plugin but video quality is amazingly clear and smooth.

hope to post pictured from the photoshoot soon. till then. back to video watching.

On the lindy front – lindy spotted – Zz alerted me to decontextualised lindy in Missy Elliot's new video – Lose Control…. and i went to check it out on AOL…. and there you have it – on the 1 min 37 secondth… i spotted a Handstand Roll Up, a Death Dive, a Kip and some gal flip guys over thingie…. a psuedo boogie backs…. hahaha… quite hilarious to see it done to hip hop music… lindy fans – check it out…. not spectacular aerials though – quite clumsy….
