FOI4

Event: Future of Imagination 4
I haven’t been to much performance art events since the restriction of public funding was lifted in 2003. If you’ve no idea what i’m talking about, take a look at a breakdown of the controversy here. The occasional one or two in conjunction with other performances, but never as an independent event. Tonight marks the first time i’m watching FOI in the 4 years its been around. Some acts were pleasantly well done. :)

Here are some random photos i took which turned out decent – the lighting conditions for photo taking with my small digicam wasn’t very good.

The performance by UK Artist Kenny McBride that left the most images, and the deepest impression. Soil, fish heads, satay sticks, surgical gloves and a chair. I guess its the constant revelation that kept this durational piece fresh.

There’s something about smashing glasses that just gets to the audience, probably the most elaborately staged piece of the night by Jason Lim, i like the materials he used and the way he used them.

A piece by Thai artist Angkrit A. with a straightforward message about identity and appearances.

The event is still on tomorrow at 72-13, with a Conference Session on Sunday at Post-Museum. :)
